When Light Pierces the Darkness

Mary Magdalene went to the tomb while it was still dark, very early in the morning on the first day of the week. (John 20:1)

In the darkness, she lacked understanding, her heart was broken, and she had lost her Lord and Master. All she felt was darkness, loss, emptiness. When she looked up and saw the tomb, anger gripped her. They have stolen his body! Another loss….

Today we modern disciples feel so much darkness, loss, and broken heartedness. There is so much death: murder on our streets, deportation of our neighbors, families separated, car bombs in the Middle East, and starvation of millions in Africa.

Then light pierces the darkness – something NEW happens.

“I have seen the Lord!” (John 20:18)

This encounter changed everything for Mary and all the disciples, even till today. We are empowered to see with the lens of Jesus, to forgive our enemies, and to act without fear. This year, on this first day of the week, we begin again to take chances and to believe in conversion, even our own.

Easter is a LOVE FEAST, a season for encounter.

We have seen the Lord. ALLELUIA!
